The father of Democratic attorney general candidate Josh Stein contributed $500,000 to the N.C. Democratic Party in early March, according to a recently filed campaign disclosure report.

The contribution from Adam Stein, a prominent civil rights attorney who lives in Chapel Hill, was by far the largest given to the state Democratic Party in the second quarter of 2016. The party raised nearly $1.4 million in the quarter, which stretched from March through June.

Pat Gannon of the Insider reports Adam Stein also gave $5,100 directly to his son's campaign in June and his wife Jane Stein, also gave the $5,100 maximum.
