RALEIGH, (SGRToday.co) -  Clay Aiken's unsuccessful bid for North Carolina's 2nd District seat in Congress gets the Hollywood treatment in a documentary set to air April 7 on the Esquire Network. "THE RUNNER UP" goes behind the scenes with Democrat Aiken during his run against Republican Renee Ellmers.

Broadwayworld.com reports that the film chronicles strategy, fundraising, and more as Aiken campaigned in the district.

Aiken is from Raleigh. He was the "American Idol" runner-up in 2003.
