RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - In practical terms, the midterm election is over. But technical requirements remain, including a canvass of the vote by all 100 county boards of election. That will take place Friday, according to the state Board of Elections.

The canvass authenticates the election results.

County-level canvass certifies results in most single-county contests. The State Board of Elections will meet Tuesday, November 25 to certify results for all federal, judicial, and multicounty contests.

Elections protests regarding vote tabulation must be filed before the beginning of the county boards’ canvass, unless there is good cause for a delay. Elections protests regarding other alleged irregularities must be filed no later than Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Requests for recounts in most single-county contests are due by Monday at 5 p.m., while such requests in statewide and multicounty contests are due by Tuesday at noon.
