RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The state's Executive Mansion looked like Scouting headquarters this week as more than 100 Scouts, two state legislators, and a North Carolina Supreme Court justice gathered to present Gov. Pat McCrory with a report on the impact of scouting on our state.

Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby and Reps. Jamie Boles and Stephen Ross led the group. The report details more than 600,000 service hours completed by nearly 75,000 Scouts throughout the state in 2015.

The governor presented the group with a commemorative copy of Senate Bill 400, which he signed into law last year after it received nearly unanimous legislative support. The law directs schools to give groups such as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts priority in the use of school facilities to increase access for students who want to participate in activities provided by these groups for the purpose of encouraging civic education.
