RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Gov. Pat McCrory suffered "minor pain" in a traffic accident following the Super Bowl in California.

The governor's office says the vehicle McCrory was riding in was in a traffic accident following the Carolina Panthers loss to the Denver Broncos. The vehicle belonged to the California Highway Patrol.

WBTV reports the governor's vehicle was hit from behind near San Jose.

“We were very fortunate, and while I am still proud of the Carolina Panthers, this puts the game in proper perspective,” said the governor in a statement. “I want to thank the California Highway Patrol and EMS for their professionalism and quick action.”
