RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Looking for a career in law enforcement? The North Carolina Highway Patrol needs you -- and nearly 150 of your most reliable, committed friends.

Two trooper classes are planned for 2015 and roughly 50 cadets are now attending trooper school. About 150 vacancies exist, but once the current  crop of recruits graduates, openings will drop to about 100.

Starting salary $35,000. A trooper can earn as much as $58,000, according to the Highway Patrol website.

Recruits don't need to hold a college degree but they do need to have graduated from high school or hold the equivalent.

Multiple tests are required of applicants, including a criminal background check and a polygraph.
