Commerce: Graham County Scores Highest November Unemployment Rate, Buncombe County Lowest PDF Print E-mail

RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - November's unemployment figures show Graham County with an unemployment rate of 11.5 percent -- the highest in the state. Buncombe County recorded the lowest rate -- 4.1 percent.

The data is not seasonally adjusted.

Not seasonally adjusted nemployment rates went up in 38 counties, went down n 37, and remained unchanged in 25.

Graham County is located on the southwestern border of the state, near Tennessee. Its surrounding counties -- Swain, Cherokee, Clay, and Macon -- fared much better. The highest of that cluster, other than Graham, was Swain at 7.5 percent.

Buncombe County is due east of Graham County. Adjacent to Buncombe is Henderson County, which also scored a low unemployment rate of 4.5 percent.
