RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Greensboro Republican Howard Coble, who represented North Carolina's 6th congressional district for three decades, has died.

Coble's brother notified media Wednesday that Congressman Coble passed away after a battle with skin cancer that had spread into other areas of his body. He was 84.

Coble left Congress earlier this year, retiring from office after first being elected to the office in 1984. Prior to that, he served  in the North Carolina House of Representatives.
