RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - It was established back in 1935, but Durham County's gun registry has come to an end, thanks to a bill introduced by state Sen. Mike Woodard of Durham that was passed and became law in June.

Carolina Journal reports that the county must now figure out what to do with the thousands of gun owners' personal information that had been compiled under the law. The newspaper quoted a local official as saying the county is inquiring what to do with the Administrative Office of the Courts.

Durham's gun roll was the only gun registration system in the state.
