RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The lobbying and advocacy group for most of the state's more than 500 municipalities has hired Campbell University law school graduate Sarah Collins as part of its government affairs team.

Collins will join the North Carolina League of Municipalities on February 21 and will serve as the group's regulatory affairs associate. She is a graduate of the Campbell University School of Law.

“We are excited to have Sarah joining our governmental affairs team,” Paul Meyer, League executive director said in a statement. “She brings significant prior experience with municipal government and the North Carolina General Assembly and detailed knowledge of the environmental regulatory issues facing our cities and towns.”

While in law school, Collins completed internships focused on environmental regulatory policy with the City of Raleigh, North Carolina Attorney General Office’s Environment Division and the League. Before returning to school for her law degree, Collins worked as a legislative assistant at the North Carolina General Assembly and as a legal assistant with DeMent, Askew, Gammon and DeMent. She also served in several roles with organizations that advocated on environmental regulatory policy matters.

“I am glad to have this opportunity to pursue common-sense environmental regulations for cities and towns across the state,” Collins said in the announcement of her hiring. “In my previous roles, I have seen how hard municipalities work to be good stewards of the environment while complying with the many state and federal mandates placed upon them, and I am honored to have the opportunity to work on their behalf.
