RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has lost money for nine years in a row, posting a $5.1 billion loss for fiscal year 2015.

Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware is the latest lawmaker to urge reform of the antiquated, government controlled postal system, according to Federalnewsradio.com.

Dogging USPS is the legal requirement that it prepay its retiree health care benefits. Some lawmakers want to do away with that.

USPS expects to do a booming holiday business that wire necessitate the hiring of thousands of temporary employees.
