RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - William Griffin of Durham has been appointed a member of the commission that oversees the state lottery.

Griffin will serve as chairman as well.

He served on the Durham City Council from 1979 to 1983 and has served on many community boards.

The commission's authority touches games, technology, advertising, and prizes.

The lottery was created 10 years ago with a 9-member commission. The group's goals can be found at nc-educationlottery.org.
