RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - It's a first, and Piedmont Middle School in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system has bragging rights. The school has been designated
a Global-Ready School by the State Board of Education.
The program is part of the Global Education Strategic Plan, which has a mission of educating children to be ready to compete in a global environment.
Winning the designation means the school has met the Prepared or Model level of achievement on the Board’s criteria.
School Principle Jacqueline Barone was given a plaque and banner for use at the school.
The World Affairs Council of Charlotte has also reached out to the school and is providing:
• a one-year complimentary Education Membership;
• the opportunity to have the school featured on its website;
• and the opportunity to receive passes for students and teachers to attend global programs and events of interest to the school.
