RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Supporters of NC State University are helping ensure the university's endowment is in stellar shape. Monday's NC State News Update reported that the endowment hit $884 million for the year ended June 30. That's a staggering increase of 76 percent over the past four years.

The endowment is used to fund scholarships, professorships, and other academic pursuits. Boosting the endowment has been a primary goal of Chancellor Randy Woodson, according to the story. He joined the university in 2010.

“Because of this generous support, we are attracting the best and brightest students, retaining the nation’s top faculty, and driving economic, societal and intellectual prosperity across the state and around the globe," said Woodson in the NC State News story.

Membership in the Alumni Association is also at a record high of nearly 25,000.
