RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The State Board of Education will meet later this week in downtown Raleigh. On Wednesday, March 5, board members will summarize their Committee discussions and take action on agenda items as appropriate during their full Board meeting on Thursday, March 6.

 
The agenda is as follows:
 
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5

Special Committee on Digital Learning

THURSDAY, MARCH 6

Following approval of their February minutes, Board members will receive a special report, the Race to the Top Initiatives Evaluation Report: Part II, that includes presentations from Jeni Corn, director of Evaluation Programs, NC State University’s Friday Institute for Educational Innovation; Trip Stallings, NC State’s Friday Institute for Education Innovation; and Gary Henry, UNC-Chapel Hill’s Carolina Public Policy. 
 
State Superintendent June Atkinson will follow with her report to the Board. During her report, NCDPI Legislative and Community Affairs 
Director Rachel Beaulieu will report on legislative activities. 
 
State Board Staff Attorney Katie Cornetto will follow with a presentation to the Joint Legislative Administrative Procedures Oversight Committee. Under the Board’s Information Agenda, members will receive the March 2014 Report to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee (JLEOC) on Progress Toward Implementing the Race to the Top Initiative and the 2013 Health Active Children Policy Report. 
 
Under the Consent Agenda, members will approve the Proposed Technical Correction to the High School Diploma Endorsement, Amendments to the Career and Technical Education State Plan, Technical Correction to Policy GCS-B-000-High School Accreditation Framework, Report to the North Carolina General Assembly on Educator Preparation Licensure and Performance Reporting, North Carolina Regional Leadership Academies: Final 2013 Activity Report, New Teacher Support Program: Interim Evaluation Report, Amendment to SBE Policy Establishing an Advisory Council for Each Residential School for the Deaf and the Blind, and the Report to the JLEOC on the UNC iSchool/Career and College Promise. 
 
Committee chairs will then report out and members will take action on regular agenda items as appropriate. Chairman Bill Cobey will conclude the meeting with his comments and discussion of any old/new business.
