WEDNESDAY, FEB. 5

THURSDAY, FEB. 6
 
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
 
Following approval of their January minutes, Board members will receive an update from Race to the Top Director Adam Levinson followed by State Superintendent June Atkinson who will present her report to the Board. During her report, Legislative and Community Affairs Director Rachel Beaulieu will report on legislative activities and NC School Superintendents’ Association Executive Director Jack Hoke will discuss local initiative on superintendent leadership. 
 
State Board Staff Attorney Katie Cornetto will follow with a Rules Review update. Under the Board’s Information Agenda, members will receive the Third Annual Race to the Top Professional Development Evaluation Report. 
 
Under the Consent Agenda, members will approve reports to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee on the Evaluation of the Innovative High School Programs and DPI/DMV Knowledge Testing Review, and the Model Teacher Contract. 
 
Committee chairs will then report out and members will take action on regular agenda items as appropriate. Chairman Bill Cobey will conclude the meeting with his comments and discussion of any old/new business.
