Retired U.S. colonel Alan Swain announced his candidacy for North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, which includes Johnston, Harnett, Sampson, Wayne, and Cumberland counties.

“I cannot sit back and let the Democrats continue to drag our great country down,” said Swain. “Their failed progressive policies have driven inflation higher and higher, and their extreme liberal ideology is now being forced on our school children. I won’t stand for it, and I will go to Washington to make sure the unique concerns of this district are heard.”

Colonel Swain served in the Army for 26 years. He commanded soldiers at all levels, notably leading an AH-64 Apache Battalion in Germany and later self-deploying his unit and serving as the Aviation Task Force Commander in Bosnia. Swain was also the Executive Officer to the White House Drug Czar under two White House administrations, served 2 tours at the Pentagon and a tour with XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort, Bragg, NC. His wife Doris is a retired Special Education teacher and a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with 22 years of service.

After his service, Swain worked to form a small business doing government contracting, where his leadership helped grow annual revenues to $35 million in just 12 years. Today, Swain serves as Chairman of both the Wake County Republican Party and the NCGOP 2nd Congressional District but will be stepping down upon filing as he announces his Congressional bid. Swain is investing $250,000 initially and has commitments and donor pledges of another $200-250,000 to run his primary race.

Swain will bring his unique skillset and leadership experience to Congress to accomplish real results for the people of the new 4th Congressional District. For more information, go to swainforcongress.com.
