Mike Causey announced he will seek a second term as North Carolina’s Commissioner of Insurance.

During the past four years I have worked for the people of North Carolina to hold the insurance companies accountable; to help lower the cost of insurance; to fight corruption and make sure that every citizen has a fair shake and level playing field when it comes to dealing with the powerful insurance industry. When I took the oath of office, I put my hand on the Holy Bible and swore to uphold the law and to defend our state and national Constitutions; I have done that.  Even when it hurt me, I have stood up to the powerful to support the interests of the people of North Carolina,” said Causey.

Causey says he’s had a successful record in his first term as Commissioner of Insurance.

  • Doubled the number of insurance fraud investigators resulting in more than 1,000 arrests of people who were trying to game the insurance system
  • Deployed additional fire department inspectors in order to clear a massive backlog of fire department inspections that helped improve community ratings; reducing the rates for homeowner’s insurance in communities across the state
  • Launched a statewide campaign on protecting babies and pets from hot vehicles in the summer
  • Focused on transparency and accountability in the Department of Insurance; holding the bureaucrats accountable – increasing the professionalism in the department

“I am proud of my record of putting the people of North Carolina first and fighting corruption and abuse of power.  My focus is on serving the people making sure they have a fair fight when it comes to dealing with the powerful insurance industry,” said Causey.
