RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Deborah Ross raised $1.3 million in the first quarter, compared to $1.1 million raised by Republican incumbent Sen. Richard Burr.
It's not yet clear how the cash haul will impact cash on hand data.
Ross started 2016 with less than half a million in the bank. A Burr official told the Raleigh News & Observer the campaign had $5.8 million in the bank at the end of the first quarter.
Ross has been endorsed by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Early polls have showed Burr with a lead in the race.
