RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - It's already a neck-and-neck race for  North Carolina's open seat for Attorney General, according to data from Public Policy Polling.

Democrat Josh Stein leads his Republican challenger Buck Newton, 38 to 37 percent, with 24 percent undecided. That's within the margin of error.

Stein is a former Wake County legislator. Newton is a current state senator representing Johnston, Nash, and Wilson counties.

Both men are competing to replace outgoing Democrat Roy Cooper, who is running for governor.
