RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Just when you thought it was over, it's time for candidate filing again. This time the filing relates to congressional races and a seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Congressional primaries were not held on March 15 due to a federal court ruling that said the elections lines for districts 1 and 12 were not legal due to being drawn with race in mind. The General Assembly redrew lines and have submitted the new map to the court for approval.

In the meantime, filing under the newly drawn lines has begun and continues through March 25.

A Supreme Court seat is included due to a separate ruling that struck down the General Assembly's move to put the seat up for a retention election, meaning voters would give a thumbs up or thumbs down to the sitting Justice, Bob Edmunds.

Because of the ruling, candidates can file for that seat and voters will choose between in November. If more than two file, there will be primary in June to cut the field to two.
