RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Arthur Willliams has decided not to compete in the Republican primary for the House District 6 seat in the General Assembly.

The Beaufort Observer posted a news release from the county Republican Party chairman, Keith Kidwell.

The release said the decision "was purely personal."

Williams' departure leaves Ashley Woolard and Beverly Boswell vying for the GOP nomination. The winner will face the winner of the Democratic primary between Judy Justice and Warren Judge.

Rep. Paul Tine currently holds the seat. He has chosen not to seek re-election.
