RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Putting down an internal dust-up among its members, the executive commitee of the state Republican Party voted overwhelmingly to reject efforts to censure Rep. David Lewis and remove Executive Director Dallas Woodhouse.

The committee consists of hundreds of people. The vote was roughly 2-to-1, according to published reports.

Lewis was a target of more conservative members because they didn't like what they viewed as his leadership support of a new mechanism for legislators to operate fundraising committees. Some felt the move undermined fundraising efforts of the state party.

Lewis represents the state party with the Republican National Committee.

Woodhouse came under fire for a perceived bias in favor of Republican incumbent Sen. Richard Burr. Critics said he was favoring Burr over Burr's primary challengers.
