RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Although he's been an elected statewide official for many years, a big chunk of North Carolinians aren't sure of their opinion of Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper.

A poll from Public Policy Polling asked this question:

"Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Roy Cooper?"

Twenty-nine percent said "favorable" and 25 percent said "unfavorable." But 46 percent answered "not sure."

Cooper's Democratic primary opponent Ken Spaulding has 75 percent responding with a "not sure."

In contrast, Republican incumbent Gov. Pat McCrory's "not sure" response came in at just 18 percent.

The gubernatorial candidates are:

Pat McCrory (R)
C. Robert Brawley (R)
Charles Kenneth Moss (R)
Roy Cooper (D)
Ken Spaulding (D)
Lon Cecil (L)

The primary will be held March 15.
