RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Bob Rucho of Mecklenburg County is calling it quits. The key player in reforming North Carolina's tax code announced he will not seek re-election and will serve out his term in the 2016 session.

Rucho has represented District 39 for eight terms. He is the co-chairman of the Finance Committee and vice-chairman of the Select Committee on Nominations. He also sits on other key Senate committees.

Ruch is a dentist by profession.
