RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - He's served as Majority and Minority Leader in the North Carolina House, but now Leo Daughtry is calling it a career.

The Johnston County Republican announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election. Daughtry began his legislative career in 1989.

Over the years, Daughtry has sought but failed to achieve higher elective office. He ran for governor in 2000 and sought the House Speaker's job last year. Tim Moore won the job.
