RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - She left politics for a job at Triangle Transit, but buzz among the chattering class says former state legislator Deborah Ross has been approached about challenging Republican incubment Sen. Richard Burr for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

The Raleigh News & Observer reports that Ross confirmed to the newspaper that she has been approached about a run.

She served in the legislture for 10 years, leaving in 2013.

"Some people are talking to be about it," she told the newspaper.

Conventional wisdom says Burr will  have a relatively easy run for re-election. With just a little over a year left until election day, Democrats still have not been able to recruit a challenger. Former Sen. Kay Hagan has declined to seek the seat.

Other names being bandied about are former Rep. Heath Shuler of western North Carolina and former Rep. Mike McIntyre of coastal North Carolina.
