RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - A fundraising email from the state Democratic Party urges donations to the party in order to "protect each North Carolinians right to vote."

The pitch from the Finance Director of the party discusses the importance of the Voting Rights Act, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The email is below.
---------------------------

"Last week we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. But voting is too important to recognize just one day of the year, so we're dedicating August to building our grassroots movement to protect each North Carolinians right to vote.

Did you know that North Carolina is the key state in a lawsuit to ensure voters continue to have access to the Ballot Box for another 50 years?

Here in the Tar Heel State, we've always been on the Front Line of the battle for equal access to voting. We were on the Front Line during the movement to pass the Voting Rights Act in 1965, and we remain on the Front Line defending this fundamental right today.

We thank you for joining the North Carolina Democratic Party Front Line, now we need your help to keep us on the winning side of this battle.

Our party, and our fight for democracy, is strong because you support us. Would you consider making a generous and critically important donation of $10, $20, $50 or whatever you can give? We are trying to raise $3,000 in the next three days.

We promise we’re not going to pound you with emails asking for money. The emails you receive from the North Carolina Democratic Party will be full of information about what's going on in our state and our country and ways for you to get involved.

You’re on the Front Line and you will be the first to know.

But this does take resources so please help us raise $3,000 by giving $10, $20, $50 or whatever you can in the next three days. We are going to put those dollars toward our continued effort to protect the right to vote.

Yours in democracy,

Katherine Cadwallader

Finance Director, North Carolina Democratic Party"
