RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Tony Tata's resignation as Secretary of North Carolina's Transportation Department has political types buzzing about a possible run for U.S. Congress.
Tata hasn't ended the speculation, telling the Triangle Business Journal this week that "I'm evaluating all of that right now." He added: "I have always said I would go where duty calls. If that takes me to public office, so be it. If that takes me to volunteering, as I have done for veterans' causes, so be it."
In June, National Journal ran a story about Tata possibly considering a primary challenge to 3rd District Congessman Walter Jones. Tata is considered a good fit for that heavily-military district because of his U.S. Army career. Tata retired as a Brigadier General.
