RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - It was supposed to be a private meeting organized by former Democratic Gov. Jim Hunt, but the Raleigh News & Observer made public this week's event geared around Hunt's desire for an "alternative vision" for North Carolina.

The newspaper reports that Hunt's Wednesday gathering of an unknown group of people was designed to change the direction of the state, which the former governor described as going backward.

No word on whether Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper, rumored to be running for governor, was invited or attended.
