RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) -  Just days after N.C. Senate Republicans rolled out their new operating budget plan, their Democratic colleagues are blasting them for "wrong priorities."

In a news release, Senate Democratic Leader Dan Blue Jr. of Wake County said of the new revenue and spending plan:

“Today, right now, middle class families continue to miss out on the economic recovery. And that is because Republican leadership in the General Assembly is not choosing to make them a priority. That needs to change. Right now, we’re getting outworked and out competed by South Carolina. And today, with this budget, I am afraid that trend will continue. Leadership continue to fail our students by underfunding education. They continue to put new taxes on middle class families, while giving tax handouts to large corporations. This budget, and it’s drafters, are again focused on the wrong priorities."

Blue adds that Democrats have tried, through amendments, to orient the plan toward other priorities.
