RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The progressive protest movement led by the North Carolina NAACP was back at the legislature Wednesday for another round of protests against Republicans who control the General Assembly. Some protesters blocked the door of the Senate chamber and then encountered police.

The protesters also held a news conference to outline again their disagreements with Republicans. The groups say Republican policies are wrong headed, even "sinful."

The groups want more money appropriated for Medicaid and a host of other social service programs.

State Republicans responded by saying the protests are political theater and that the protest agenda would cost taxpayers $10 billion.

The Rev. William Barber, head of the NAACP and the leader of the movement, says protests will continue.
