RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - State Republicans have launched a campaign to get to know voters betters in the state's key vote-rich counties of Wake and Mecklenburg. In a statement posted to the party's website, Chairman Claude Pope described the effort as Project Listen.

“Mecklenburg and Wake Counties are not only among the fastest growing regions in the state, but the entire nation. It is imperative that our team of candidates have a better understanding of the issues impacting these voters and how to better communicate with them. This gives the NCGOP a historic opportunity to also become one of the fastest growing parties in the nation. To that end, we’re announcing our efforts to have an open, frank, and ongoing discussion with all North Carolinians – regardless of party or ideology – about the values and common ground we share,” stated Pope.

The effort will be chaired by 13th District Congressman George Holding and the wife of Sen. Thom Tillis, Susan Tillis.

Project Listen is being undertaken as the state's Democratic Party begins a rebuilding effort under the new chairwoman, Patsy Keever.
