RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - If the election for president were held today, North Carolinians would elect the first woman president of the United States. New data from the Elon University Poll shows Hillary Clinton defeating Jeb Bush, 46 to 40 percent. In the hypothetical matchup, 11 percent wanted someone else.

The poll is of registered voters.

Democrats also cited Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren as their second choice for their party. For Republicans, the second-most-cited name behind Bush was Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
