RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - When Sen. Elect Thom Tillis is sworn into office in January, he will take a seat on two key military affairs committees. On Monday, Senate Republicans announced Tillis had been appointed to the Senate Armed Services and Veterans' Affairs committees.

The former North Carolina House Speaker defeated Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan in November.

Tillis will also serve on an agriculture committee.

It is widely expected that when Republicans take control of the Senate in January, Tillis' colleague, Richard Burr, will be tapped as chairman of the Select Committe on Intelligence.
