RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - In the wake of a disastrous midterm election showing, Democrats have a glimmer of hope in the latest Generic Congressional Ballot question asked by Rasmussen.

The polling agency reports that its latest survey of likely U.S. voters gives Democrats 40 percent, edging Republicans, who stand at 39 percent.

The question asked which party a voter would vote for if an election were held today for seats in the U.S. Congress.

Republicans had held the lead, or tied with Democrats, for several weeks prior to the latest survey.
