RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Cleveland County state Rep. Tim Moore has been chosen by his North Carolina House colleagues as their preference for House Speakership, currently held by U.S. Senateor-Elect Thom Tillis. The official vote for House Speaker will come in January when the legislature convenes.

In a statement, Moore said Republicans "cannot foreget the great responsiblity that the voters have entrusted with us."

Moore was nominated at a caucus meeting held Saturday. He is from the conservative wing of the party.
