RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - A key advocacy group that works to promote a pro-traditional families agenda says her constituents were a formidable force in last week's midterm elections. Tami Fitzgerald, head of the N.C. Values Coalition, said the group's power at the ballot bos should "send a message to anyone running for public office in North Carolina that social conservatives are a formidable and crucial voting bloc in the state."

According to a statement from Fitzgerald, phone calls and door knocking were key to their efforts. She said the Values Coalition partnered with pro-life Susan B. Anthony List and their Women Speak Out PAC to contact over 400,000 pro-life voters in the state through five field offices and over 200 paid staff. They knocked on153,000 doors and made 250,000 phone calls.

A key voter turnout element during the campaign developed as the NC Values Coalition also spearheaded a pro-family mailer in conjunction with the National Organization for Marriage that contrasted Kay Hagan’s and Thom Tillis’ positions on same-sex marriage and abortion.

The group also worked with pastors to inform voters about key legislative races involving pro-family candidates.
