RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - With the election looming, the Republican candidate widely expected to take the congressional seat being vacated by Democrat Mike McIntyre has snagged a high-profile endorsement.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee endorsed David Rouzer for the seat in the 7th District, which spans from Johnston County over to the coastal region of the state.

"David Rouzer's commitment to protect the unborn, his defense of traditional marriage, and his support for our Second Amendment rights make him the best choice for North Carolina's Seventh District. I fully support David's campaign for Congress," said Governor Huckabee in a statement on his website.

Rouzer is facing Democrat Jonathan Barfield.
