RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - With polls showing a dead heat for the U.S. Senate race in our state, Democrats are turning to the most popular Democrat on the scene to help Kay Hagan's re-election effort.

Former President Bill Clinton will campaign for Hagan in Raleigh on Friday.

His appearance follows his wife's stumping for Hagan last weekend.

Strategists say the appearance of both Clintons shows the Hagan campaign hasn't sealed the deal with voters and that the Clintons are an effort to turn out base voters who aren't enthused to vote.

Thom Tillis, the Republican nominee, had his own big name on the stump this week as well. Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney campaigned for Tillis in Raleigh on Wednesday.

Polls show the race, which includes Libertarian Sean Haugh, is a dead heat.
