RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a federal appeals court order that put on hold two provisions of North Carolina's election reform law.

On Wednesday, the high court stayed the 4th Circuit Court's order related to same-day registration and out-of-precinct voting. Both would have been reinstated for the November 4 election has the order stood.

The vote was 7-2.

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor did not join the majority.
