RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - As the midterm election nears, new data from the state Board of Elections shows that more than 6.5 million North Carolinians are registered to vote. That represents an increase of 1.5 million over the last decade.

 
The deadline to register to vote in the November 4 election is October 10.
 
Democrats retain their solid advantage in registrations. 
 
Nearly 42 percent (41.9) of voters are registered as Democrats.
 
Nearly 31 percent (30.5) are registered as Republicans.
 
More than 27 percent (27.2) are registered as Unaffiliated.
 
Less than 1 percent (.4) are registered as Libertarians.
