RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The Kay Hagan campaign began the new week with a fundraising e-mail signed by the senator that goes after the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for an advertising buy "to attack me."

Hagan, the Democratic incumbent, faces a fierce fight against Republican Thom Tillis and Libertarian Sean Haugh.

Under a banner that says "Grassroots Goal $1 Million By September 30," the e-mail reads as follows.

----------------------------------------------
Dear Friend,

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, an outside special interest group, is spending more than $700,000 in one week to attack me. It’s this week.

This is a big week for them. But you know what? We can make it a big week for us, too.

We need to respond to this attack with a huge grassroots push toward our $1 million FEC goal. Pitch in $5.

We’re fighting for the people that matter. We’re fighting for things like Medicare, Social Security, college affordability, and access to health care.

But the Chamber of Commerce doesn’t care about those things. Because the Chamber is a special interest group, they don’t have to worry about the bills and challenges North Carolinians face every day.

These groups can afford to spend $700,000 a week to attack me -- but in this election, with the polls close and the clock winding down to Election Day, we can’t afford to let their attacks go unanswered.

Let’s make sure our grassroots network is strong and ready to fight back against this new attack. Give $5 or more right now.

I’m proud of the campaign we’re running. Thank you for all of your help.

Kay
