RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - If the election for U.S. Senate were held today, Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan would win a second term, according to new data from Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling (PPP).

In survey results released this week, PPP finds Kay Hagan with 42 percent of the vote. Her Republican challenger Thom Tillis draws 38 percent, while Libertarian Sean Haugh comes in with
8 percent of the vote.

"Haugh's supporters say they would support Tillis 61/19 over Hagan if they had to choose between the two major party candidates- when you allocate them to their second choice Hagan leads by just one point at 43/42," according to poll analysis from PPP's Tom Jensen.
