RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - President Obama's job approval rating continues to hover in the mid-40s. The latest tracking poll of likely voters conducted by Rasmussen shows 45 percent approve of the the president's job performance. More than half -- 53 percent -- disapprove.

The latest figures include 21 percent who say they "strongly approve" and 41 percent who tell pollsters they "strongly disapprove."

The president's continuing troubles produce a serious question for North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan's re-election campaign. As the fall campaign season looms, Hagan will be forced to choose whether to ask the president to campaign for her in person in a state that voted for Mitt Romney in 2012.

Some political watchers believe she will capitalize on the president's popularlity with the Democratic Party's wealthy donors by relying on him for fundraising support behind the scenes.

Hagan faces Republican Thom Tillis and Libertarian Sean Haugh in November.
