RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The pro-life political action committee, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, has announced its endorsement of Republican Thom Tillis for U.S. Senate in North Carolina.

Tillis faces Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan and Libertarian Sean Haugh in the fall election.

The Susan B. Anthony List news release is below.

"As Speaker of the House, Thom Tillis has led the charge to enact compassionate laws that protect North Carolina's women and unborn children," said SBA List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "Speaker Tillis' strong pro-life record stands in stark contrast to that of Senator Kay Hagan, who has voted for taxpayer funding of abortion under Obamacare and even opposes legislation that would end late-term abortions. While Thom Tillis stands strong for unborn children and mothers, Kay Hagan stands with the deep-pocketed abortion lobby that fills her campaign coffers. Kay Hagan's extreme views on abortion are out of step with the majority of North Carolinians and she must be defeated."

Thom Tillis was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2006 and currently serves as Speaker of the House. He formerly served as the NC House Republican Whip. On May 6th he won the Republican Primary with 46 percent of the vote. Prior to serving in elected office, Rep. Tillis had a successful business career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, North Carolina's largest bank, and IBM.

Rep. Tillis has been endorsed by National Right to Life and holds a 100 percent pro-life voting record. Tillis' opponent, Sen. Kay Hagan (D), has been endorsed by EMILY's List, and has a 0 percent National Right to Life score.
