RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - One-stop early voting for the May 6 primary election began Thursday. The State Board of Elections reports that counties have designated a combined 289 sites, including 77 additional sites as compared to the 2010 primary.

“Our counties have worked hard to offer voters the opportunity to participate in the early voting process,” said Executive Director of the State Board of Elections Kim Westbrook Strach, in a news release.

Election officials will ask voters whether they have an acceptable form of photo identification, though voters will not be required to present one until January 2016.   The State Board of Elections has provided an online tool to help voters select the most convenient one-stop location in their county.

Voters are encouraged to check their registration information and if they have moved within their county, one-stop early voting provides a convenient opportunity to also update their name and address.

Operation schedules for individual sites vary and are posted online.

One-stop early voting will end Saturday, May 3.
