RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Sen. Kay Hagan's campaign is taking a page from the national Democratic playbook by targeting one of her GOP opponents -- House Speaker Thom Tillis -- as being aligned with the billionaire funders of conservative causes, the Koch Brothers.

The "Beltway Insiders" blog, part of "Roll Call" reported on March 26 that Hagan's digital media campaign ties Tillis to what is called the Koch's "anti middle class" policies. The Kochs are founders of Americans for Prosperity and are active participants in policy and political circles. They have become the poster boys for the Democrats' rallying cry that there is too much money in politics.

Meantime, Republicans have their own poster child. Billionaire progressive George Soros has also poured multi millions into issues and candidates aligned with Democrats.

"Roll Call" reports that Hagan's campaigns says Americans for Prosperity has spent more than $8 million so far on ads against her.

Eight Republicans are seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Hagan in the fall. The candidates are:

-- Thom Tillis
-- Jim Snyder
-- Edward Kryn
-- Mark Harris
-- Heather Grant
-- Alex Bradshaw
-- Greg Brannon
-- Ted Alexander

Hagan faces her own Democratic primary. Will Stewart and Ernest Reeves are challing Hagan.
