"Friends,

 

I wanted to take a moment to discuss our road ahead.

 

A lot has happened since November 2012.  Pat McCrory and General Assembly Republicans have erased, in a few months, what took years for folks like you and me to build.

 

Nearly every day, we are subjected to more embarrassing headlines and every day Republicans move us further and further away from the values that made our state great.

 

Our heads are left spinning as we continue to hear the heartbreaking stories all across this state about the families who are affected by the Republicans' harmful agenda.

 

Whether it’s increasing taxes on our working families to pay for handouts to the wealthiest among us, deep cuts to public education, lasting harm to our environment, barriers at the ballot box or a full-out assault on women’s health, we know this isn't our North Carolina.

 

For most of us, progress can’t happen fast enough.  That’s why I’m committing myself to working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2014. 

 

You’ll find me on the front-lines fighting for our future and for our values: from re-electing Kay Hagan, to taking back seats in the state legislature and making sure we elect fair-minded judges.

 

Our road ahead may look like a steep climb, but where others see challenges, I see opportunity for this great state.

 

The work we do now in 2014 will set the stage for Democrats to take back our state in 2016.  We don't have a moment to spare.
