RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - In a sign of the importance already being placed on the 2014 election season, the Republican National Committee opened an African-American engagement office in Charlotte this week. The goal of the office, according to state Republican leaders, is to build strong and lasting relationships with African-American communities across North Carolina.

“This is a historic moment for our party,” said North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Claude Pope in the announcement of the office. “We’ve been building a tremendous grassroots network across the state, and it is vital that we increase our base of support by making sure we’re reaching out to all voters and building strong, lasting relationships with every community.”

“The pro-family and pro-small business agenda of the Republican Party is appealing to the African-American community, and the RNC and NCGOP are taking the initiative in reaching out and sharing that positive vision for North Carolina’s future,” said Committeewoman Dr. Ada Fisher. "It’s important that all North Carolinians have a place in the political process and all are being heard."

Among those attending the grand opening were RNC National Director for African-American Initiatives Kristal Hartsfield, North Carolina African-American State Director Earl L. Phillip, and Civil Rights Activist Clarence Henderson.
